About The Cinema Angle

Hi, I’m Puneet Taneja.

I started film blogging way back in 2008 on Blogger. After years of writing and life’s ups and downs, I have finally migrated to this new digital home, The Cinema Angle.

The Professional Side I am a Computer Science Engineer by degree (Class of 2008) and a Media Buyer by profession. But my true passion has always been the movies.

The “Real” Me I began watching Hindi movies in the late 90s, but I realized my obsession much later in the mid-2000s. I slowly got drawn into Hollywood and World Cinema.

I haven’t seen as many films as most die-hard movie buffs, simply because of my “bad habit”—I tend to take a long time to let go of a movie I love madly. I prefer to sit with it, analyze it, and let it sink in.

Shah Rukh Khan sitting alone on the sand in the movie Dil Se, next to the philosophical writing about fleeting memories.
Kuch log reth pe likhe naamo ki tarah hote hai, hawa ka ek jhonka jinhe uda le jaata hai…

My Taste Every now and then, a routine flick is fun to watch (I have many guilty pleasures!). But my priority goes to the Horror genre or anything creative and out-of-the-box. And no, that doesn’t mean I am into “festival” movies—to be honest, they rarely work for me.

I also don’t believe in the word ‘Fan.’ I don’t understand celebrity worship. I enjoy falling in love with characters, not stars.

My All-Time Favourites:

  • Rockstar
  • Dark (Web Series)
  • La La Land
  • The Haunting of Hill House
  • Dil Se
  • The Exorcist
  • The Godfather
  • Scam 1992

A Note on My Writing My posts are simple. I write to convey how I felt about a movie or a song.

Warning: I almost always write with SPOILERS. I believe in deep analysis, which is impossible without discussing the plot. It is best if you watch the movie first and then come here to discuss.
