I watched the movie Dhurandhar: The Revenge a few weeks ago, but the music fever still hasn’t died down thanks to Shashwat Sachdev’s great compositions. The music does a huge job of making the story feel real that Aditya Dhar uses in the narrative very efficiently. So, here are my top 3 songs from Dhurandhar. I will tell you exactly why I love them so much.
Why I Picked the Top 3 Songs from Dhurandhar
Music can make or break a film. In this movie, the songs bring out the real anger and heartbreak of the characters. Picking just three was hard because the whole album is great, but these tracks stood out the most to me.
1. Jaan Se Guzarte Hain
From the first time I heard the album, “Jaan Se Guzarte Hain” was my absolute favorite. It has become my new “Rehna Tu” from the movie Delhi-6. Just like that song felt romantic but showed love for a city, these lyrics feel like pure romance and sacrifice but are used for patriotism.
I still listen to this track multiple times a day! The opening vocal note (alaap) instantly gives you a “wow” feeling. The soft traditional instruments mixed with epic lines like “Zulm sirf itna hai unse pyaar karte hai” and “Aetbaar badhta hai aur bhi mohabbat ka, jab woh ajnabi bankar paas se gujarte hai” are just pure magic. The way the melody flows makes you feel the deep pain of the characters.
Honestly, I prefer this movie version over the original Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan track. Also, I am so glad they decided not to use an English rap on this one. It helps retain the classic feel of the original song.
2. Aari Aari
“Aari Aari,” my second favorite track, has excellent, heavy beats. I love how it is used during the whole revenge and action sequence. The scene where Jaskirat rises with the iconic chakra is amazing. When you hear the beat drop, it gives you goosebumps. It is the perfect action song.
The Punjabi folk style mixed with hip-hop makes you want to move. The line “Meri dil di baazi agge koi dard bada na lagge” fits his emotional state perfectly. Then, the hook “Vari varsi khatan gaya si khatke lyanda patasa…” brings great energy, while the “Preet prakhta tera…” part adds a deeper emotional layer.
The lyrics are a gem with Bombay Rockers and Irshad Kamil teaming up. The English rap by Reble works really well here, saying he is fighting for his people, so it is not a sin. Jasmine Sandlas’ short vocal part at the end, along with the chorus, makes this a super track.
3. Aakhiri Ishq
“Aakhiri Ishq” feels like the sad version of “Gehra Hua.” It is almost like the two songs are having a conversation. “Gehra Hua” says “Meri baahon mein rehna, yahi hai dua…” (stay in my arms), while “Aakhiri Ishq” says “Sheesha jo dekho toh bheege baalon ko, mere hathon se chhoona, main na raha toh…” (touch your wet hair with my hands when I am gone).
Jubin Nautiyal is always reliable with these deep, emotional tracks. Sometimes, I feel his voice fits heartbreak even better than Arijit Singh! A great sad song makes you feel the words, and Jubin does exactly that. The soft instrumental part before the first verse is beautiful. But hearing the dialogue “Unhe ab bhool jaa bache” in the pre-climax scene breaks your heart.
Even if you take out the movie’s patriotic story, this stands alone as a perfect romantic song. Irshad Kamil’s lyrics, like “Main na raha mere baad mein milega na ishq yahan,” are on another level.
Honorable Mentions

Other great songs like “Main Aur Tu” (my personal favorite for how it was shot), “Vaari Jaavan,” “Tere Ishq Ne” (Jyoti Nooran is fantastic here, love that ‘ni ni sa sa ni ni sa sa..’ madly!), and “Destiny” missed my top 3, but I still love listening to them too.
