I was very close to watching Robert Pattinson for the first time when one of his Twilight movies came out in 2011. It was released around the same time as Rockstar.
I had a friend who really wanted to see Twilight, but I convinced her to watch Rockstar with me instead. I still do not know how I would have reacted if I had seen the Twilight movie back then. And I still do not know how I will react now, because I have never watched a single one of them.
The Movie That Changed My Mind
In 2017, I read some great reviews for a movie called Good Time. I decided to watch it, and that is when Robert Pattinson became an actor whose films I really look forward to.
In this excellent and intense crime thriller, he played a very complex character. On one hand, he deeply cares for his brother and wants to free him from the trouble he caused. But on the other hand, he keeps making selfish mistakes that put other people’s lives in danger. Even with all his flaws, you still root for him to survive somehow.
From Tenet to The Batman
After Good Time, I saw Robert Pattinson in Tenet. I did not like the film at all, but he was great in a supporting role. I also watched him in The Devil All The Time. I still love the exact way he says the word “delusional” in the church scene.
Then, he was outstanding in The Batman. It finally felt like someone looked like they were made for this role ever since Christian Bale. (No offense to Michael Keaton fans, but I have not seen his version of Batman, and Ben Affleck never worked for me).
Looking Forward to the Future
Looking at his IMDb ratings, he actually has not had a single main lead movie that got an 8+ rating yet. I hope this changes in the coming years because he has huge potential to shine in many different kinds of roles.
I am really looking forward to watching his other movies that have already come out, like Mickey 17, Die My Love, The Drama, and his latest release, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. I just haven’t been able to see any of them yet. Hoping to catch up soon!
