Today, I am sharing my Dangal rewatch score to kick off a brand new series! Since I haven’t had much time to watch new content lately due to my work life, I am going to talk about a movie every Saturday or some Saturdays of a month. This won’t be a normal movie review. Instead, it is a fun way to show you what the best bits are, and what the letdowns are.
Starting with Dangal this week! It is a massive blockbuster and loved by everyone, so it fits the “highly rewatchable” rule perfectly. It has the humor, the hard training montages, and that incredibly hype final match.
My Favorite Scenes
Geeta and Babita having their final plate of golgappas. Also, the amazing moment when Geeta remembers the advice given by her father in the past just as she lands the 5-point move to win the gold medal.
Best Song
The Dangal title track! Daler Mehndi’s voice makes this track so motivational. I love these lines from the first stanza:
Thhos majboot bharosa Apne sapno pe karna
Jitne munh utni baatein Gaur kitno pe karna
Aaj logon ki baari Jo kahein keh lene de
Tera bhi din aayega Uss din hisaab chuka ke rehna…
Are bhed ki hahakaar ke badle Sher ki ek dahaad hai pyaare

The Snack Break
The long rift between Geeta and Mahavir after their akhada fight. The story needed it, but when you watch the movie again, this part is a bit slow to sit through.
The Best Quote
Agar Silver jeeti toh aaj nahi toh kal log tanne bhool javenge.
Gold jeeti toh misaal ban jaavegi.
Aur misaale di jaati hai beta, bhooli nahi jaati.
In the movie, this scene comes right before the final match while Mahavir is having a conversation with Geeta. Its use in the trailer was fantastic. I love this quote because it is a very real take on winning. Some might argue that coming in second out of so many people is a huge achievement. But the hard truth is that people remember the winners much more than the runner-ups, and this dialogue perfectly highlights that.
Final Dangal Rewatch Score: 9/10
Aamir’s performance, the great acting by the supporting cast, the amazing music, and fantastic direction by Nitesh Tiwari make this an easy movie to rewatch endless times.
(The only major drawback is that the team coach was shown like a very fake, filmy villain).
